Creative Lawyer and Attorney Marketing

In the course of founding, developing, and continuously attempting to improve a growing solo law practice, I’ve researched and used many forms of attorney/lawyer marketing. From Yellow Page ads in the phone book, to billboards, to radio ads, to online directory listings, to sponsoring celebrity golf tournaments, to pay-per-click search engine ads, and everything in between.

Interestingly enough, attorneys weren’t even allowed to advertise when my father started practicing law.  The American Bar Association (ABA) historically believed that attorney/lawyer advertising was unprofessional and would cause people to possibly file frivolous claims. However attorneys John Bates and Van O’steen took the ban of attorney/lawyer advertising all the way to the United States Supreme Court in the early 1970s and the ban was overturned. Attorneys/lawyers now advertise with the kind of over-the-top ads that would make a used car salesman embarrassed. Who knows how much further attorney/lawyer marketing can go in the future?

Attorney Marketing Fail
These guys forgot the word “attorneys” or “lawyers.” The sign makes it sound like they sell personal injuries.
