Please note that Oregon breweries, wineries, bars, taverns, restaurants, etc. do not directly control whether or not minors are allowed. In other words, one should not assume that just because a bar or tavern does not allow minors is somehow indifferent or hostile to children or families with children. There are many laws, rules, and policies set by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) which dictate when and where children can be present where alcohol is served.

For an brief overview of the Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) laws, rules, and policies on minors and alcohol, you can read their PDF on Oregon alcohol laws and minors.

For purposes of alcohol sale or consumption, Oregon law defines a minor as any person under the age of 21, and a juvenile as any person under the age of 18. Oregon law prohibits anyone except a parent or legal guardian from providing alcohol to a minor or juvenile in a private residence when accompanying their minor child. Also, contrary to popular belief, a parent cannot transfer this authority to another private residence without the parents present (e.g. a parent cannot allow their children to consume alcohol at another person’s house or a party simply by saying it’s “okay”). An individual, business, or host of a party that provides alcohol to minors, or otherwise has alcohol available in a location where minors are present can be charged with a violation or even cited for a crime.
